Honoring Lieutenant Edgar Nelson Peters on September 4th, 2025

At last night’s Town Board meeting, I had the privilege of introducing Resolution 900/2025:
“Resolution to Declare Portacomaro, Italy the Sister City of the Town of Pleasant Valley and to Honor Lieutenant Edgar Nelson Peters.”
I want to thank the entire Board for unanimously passing this resolution, which also establishes September 4th each year as Lieutenant Edgar Nelson Peters Day in the Town of Pleasant Valley.
Lieutenant Peters was a Pleasant Valley resident whose story is not widely known, but his legacy and sacrifice deserve to be remembered. He gave his life in Italy on September 4, 1944, and thanks to dedicated historians, his story has been carefully preserved.
